Governance
BackSt Bernadette Catholic Primary School is an academy in the Diocese of Westminster Academy Trust. Each school within the Trust has its own Local Governing Body to which the Trust Board delegates its functions through the Scheme of Delegation. The Governing Body consists of both appointed and elected governors who serve a local link in fulfilling delegated responsibilities from the Trust Board. Through their work, they will work with the Diocese of Westminster, the Diocese of Westminster Academy Trust’s Board and Executive, the Headteacher and the School’s Leadership Team to ensure that pupils receive the best possible education. LGBs are Bodies of the Board and are accountable to the Directors.
The full Governing Body and committees meet regularly throughout the school year and they have four key roles:
- Ensuring that the school is conducted as a Catholic School in accordance with the canon law and teachings of the Catholic Church and in accordance with the Diocese of Westminster.
- Ensuring that the vision, ethos and strategic direction of the school are clearly defined.
- Ensuring that the Headteacher performs his or her responsibilities efficiently and effectively for the education performance of the school.
- Ensuring the sound, proper and effective use of the school’s financial resources.
Our governing body has 2 committees:
Finance & Resources Committee (F&R)
Achievement & Families Committee (A&F)
Correspondence for the Governors may be addressed to the Clerk to the Governing Body at the school.
